Welcome to Healthy Communities, a population health-based research initiative to promote community, family and individual health and well-being through prevention, intervention and evaluation.

  • Mission: The Healthy Communities research initiative will provide a focus for multidisciplinary research that addresses the real needs of the communities in which it operates, and informs our undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum.
  • The primary focus of this research will be on informing, monitoring and evaluating programs, interventions and behavioural changes that promote healthy, safe and viable communities.

Aims:

  1. To achieve sustainable health outcomes based on defining, identifying and enabling healthy environments, behaviours and lifestyles.
  2. Develop a research program addressing health problems that are unique, significantly over-represented, and/or more severe in Central Queensland.
  3. Help families and individuals to live healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives.
